Wednesday Writer's Workshop 

Writer's Workshop Process 

1) Find and review Writer's Workshop steps and processes (handout below)

2) Brainstorm - what would go into a letter home to parents.

3) Read Language Arts article, "Six Elements of Language Arts"

4) Use the Language Arts article to write an introductory letter to parents as their child's new Language Arts teacher.  Welcome the parents/students to your class, introduce yourself, include a brief description of each of the 6 language arts elements you will be teaching, and provide information how parents can help their child in Language Arts. The letter should be at least one page in length but can be up to 2 pages.

 Peer Editing

1) Share your Parent Letter Google Doc with a peer 
2) Peer review & edit

3) Make changes from peer review
4) Upload to online portfolio

Research Paper (can do in pairs or individually)

1) Brainstorm topics & narrow using guide (Handouts below).

(2) Complete pages 1-4 and bring to class next Wednesday..  

To start thinking...You can look at previous topics in addition to thinking about what interests you.  What are your endorsements?  What have you learned in previous courses that intrigues you?  What excites you about teaching?  How can your passion tie into Language Arts?
