One hour of applied instruction weekly in major study area for B.M. student or third- or fourth-year B.M.E. student. For music majors only, or permission of instructor. Technical proficiency for a facile left hand with correct intonation and for mastery of the right hand and arm to master all types of bowing, phrasing, dynamics. Literature for violin, viola, cello, bass. For guitar, individual work in strumming, finger picking, sight-reading, and interpretation in many styles. Musical interpretation. Required weekly seminar.
